Now that you have begun working on a series of coordination and finger strengthening exercises, you’ll no doubt be ready to incorporate some more musical ideas into your practice routine. This video course is the first of two that will help you to begin playing arpeggios on the bass using the two-handed tapping technique. A good understanding of basic music theory will be very helpful to you when studying these two courses.

In this video we’ll be discussing the basic triads that arise from harmonising the C major scale. Throughout this course we’ll be learning how to play these arpeggios over one and two octaves.
In this exercise we will be tapping the root, third, fifth and octave of each arpeggio before descending. This is great way to begin learning to use the tapping technique.
This exercise represents a very effective way of playing arpeggios and has been used by Victor Wooten and Billy Sheehan among others.
For additional arpeggio practice, it’s a great idea to learn to play two octave arpeggios on the bass. The process of learning to do this will help you to ‘see’ the arpeggio across a wider stretch of the fingerboard.
In this exercise we will be playing all of the arpeggios from the key of F major over two octaves.
