This study piece was written in the style of legendary bassist Marcus Miller. The key focus here is to become comfortable with playing slap bass grooves at slower tempos - something that bass players often struggle with, but something that Marcus excels at. This piece is also a great resource for working on the double popping technique.

This video gives a brief overview of the course.
In this video we’ll be working through the A section of this piece, which is the main theme. This lesson covers bars 1-8.
In this video we’ll be working through the B section of the piece, which is a more melodic line played by the bass. This lesson covers bars 9-16.
In this lesson we’ll be looking at the C section, which is essentially a repeat of the A section. In this lesson we’ll really just be concentrating on the final bar, which serves as a transition into the next part of the track. This lesson covers bars 17-22.
In this video we’ll be taking a look at the middle section of the track, at letter D. This lesson covers bars 23-28.
This video covers the bass solo from the E section. This lesson covers bars 29-36.
In this final video of the course I’ll be talking about the tone and instrument that I used for this piece, as well as offering some advice on how you can achieve a similar sound.
