In this short video I’ll be briefly talking about two notes on the A-string, then putting them to use in a simple bassline.
This exercise uses the open A-string and the two new notes: B and C. A new rhythm is also used here – the eighth note, which lasts for half of a beat.
This exercise is a continuous eighth note bassline, something that bass players are often required to play.
This exercise also uses some of the notes that we’ve learnt on the E-string. As you’ll discover, good muting is essential when moving from string to string.
This exercise is a little more complex as it makes use of the eighth note rest. As this rest is used on the first part of some beats, there will be instances where you are playing on the upbeat only.
