Jamiroquai – ‘Whatever It Is, I Just Can’t Stop’

This song is from Emergency on Planet Earth, Jamiroquai’s 1993 debut album. On an album filled with some incredible bass playing – courtesy of original bassist Stuart Zender – this track is certainly one of the highlights.

The bassline for this song is built around a repeating four-bar groove that is performed using the fingerstyle technique. Although the track features a lot of repetition, the devil is in the details: there are many variations and fills to get your teeth into, all of which will be covered in the course.
