This lesson introduces two new notes on the D-string – the G#/Ab at the first fret, and the A#/Bb at the third. It also includes a bassline that makes use of these notes.
This exercise is a simple funk groove that uses both of the new notes. The opening four notes in bars 1 an 3 are another example of chromatic movement.
This exercise also makes use of both new notes and contains references to the blues scale. Take care to mute the lower strings in the second half of bars 1 and 3.
This exercise makes use of the Bb on the G-string. Octaves – an incredibly valuable tool for bassists – are used extensively here.
