  1. Excellent and essential to both beginner and intermediate Review by Grand Wazoo

Great book, very well paced from first steps to advanced theory, Stuart Clayton takes you through a learning journey effortlessly explaining every step with clarity, perfect diction and great teaching skills. Personally am not a beginner I am in between intermediate to advanced but I value the use of this book as a great tool to brush up on my technical deficiencies, so it has always proved worthy. I am looking for the new Advanced Crash book to add to my collection.

    Well done! (Posted on 11/28/10)

  2. Fabulous book Review by Johno

As a bass teacher I find this book is great for beginners. It splits development into days which is really helpfull and one doesn't have to work to the ssytem if you don't want to. A great aid to learning the bass. (Posted on 9/22/10)

  3. Good foundations to build upon Review by Mystic Fred

'Excellent absolute beginner's first book on learning bass, introduces many bass techniques in various music genres - blues, rock, heavy metal, pop, funk, disco, reggae, but no jazz unfortunately. Painless basic theory tuition - triads, octaves, arpeggios, notes and scales, playing techniques include octave playing, slide, hammer/pull off, trills. Easy for the left handed player to follow. Lessons are mapped out day by day, though many of the excercises may take quite a while to master at example playing speeds, good quality audio examples. I found the disco and reggae techniques the most difficult, i only usually play blues and rock but it was interesting to try them. Overall a good "basic" guide to learning bass and opens up loads of ideas for the future, and it is interesting to go back on the excercises to see how your playing has improved!' 4. Make this your first book Review by Unknown Customer

'This book does exactly what it says on the cover. I used to play bass many years ago before taking up the guitar and decided to pick it up again so i choose this book. As well as learning some great bass lines you learn scales, triads ,arpeggios and all sorts of essential stuff along the way without it getting to bogged down in theory and boring .You just cannot wait to turn the page and see what's next. Nice CD format with tracks correctly numbered to correspond with the book. THIS BOOK WOULD ALSO TEACH AN INTERMEDIATE PLAYER A THING OR TWO WHO IS A BIT WEAK ON THEORY. Make this your first book on bass trust me.' (Posted on 9/18/09)
