The long-awaited book Solo Arrangements for Electric Bass is finally available for Pre-Order. The book is being printed this week and all pre-ordered books will be shipped before the end of the month. This is a huge book and contains some great solo bass music, including ‘The Simpsons Theme’, ‘Shape of My Heart’ (Sting) and ‘The Genesis Medley’. There is also a detailed history of the solo bass genre, an in-depth breakdown of the techniques needed to perform the pieces (with exercises and etudes) and interviews and biographies with all of the major solo bassists such as Michael Manring, Jeff Schmidt, Zander Zon and Stu Hamm. We’re also pleased to include contributions from Aram Bedrosian (’Space Opera’) and Zander Zon (’I, Resolute). Audio files for the book are available as a separate download, which is FREE.

In other news, we’re currently working on the first book in a series of Jamiroquai bass transcriptions. The first volume will cover Stuart Zender’s great bass work with the band on their first two albums, Emergency on Planet Earth and Return of the Space Cowboy. This book will be released early in 2011. We’re also continuing to work on the forthcoming Scales and Modes for Bass Guitar book, also scheduled for release in 2011. Finally, we’ve been working with Zander Zon on plans for a transcription book of his solo bass album Sonorous, as well as some of his solo bass arrangements of popular songs. Stay tuned!

Recording has begun on the audio files that will accompany the forthcoming Solo Arrangements for Electric Bass book. Two complete songs have been uploaded for your listening pleasure: solo arrangements of Sting’s classic ‘Shape of My Heart’ and a medley of Genesis songs: ‘Blood on the Rooftops’, ‘Mad Man Moon’ and ‘Firth of Fifth’.
